Community bands don't often compete on the national stage, so the opportunity to have a friendly competition with our local bands once a year is a cracking day out and a lot of fun and a highlight of our summer performing calendar. 

Kirkby Lonsdale Brass band have hosted this Street March and Entertainment program competition for more years than many of us can remember, and it ensures a variety of content unmatched in many other contest stages. 

I understand this year the popularity of the event has enticed more bands to play, so any band that comes 'top' will truly have earnt their reward.

At the end of the competition there is a massed band gathering which will create some fantastic rousing sound as we play through several marches.    Shops and eateries will be open, and local icecream and fish and chips are a compelling choice for many.   Will we see you there?  We hope you will come along to support the band(s) at what is a 'free' event - which can also double up as a bonus gift for dear old dad on father's day...
