1.                LANCASTER CITY BRASS

Lancaster City Brass is Lancaster's only brass band who's history goes back to the early part of the 20th Century.

The band started life as the Standfast Band but after some years became Storey's of Lancaster. Storey's supported the band for many years, in fact well into the 1980's. With the demise of the firm funding for the band ceased and it became City of Lancaster (Storey's) Band in the 1990's. With falling membership the band amalgamated with another band who were functioning at the time but as quite often with amalgamations it didn't quite work out so a number of members broke away and formed what we now know as Lancaster City Brass.

The Band has had it's ups and downs since it's formation with players coming and going but that seems to be the way of things these days. Anyone who can play on any instrument is welcome to come along and join us and will be more than welcome. We are a very friendly bunch but with some ambition to improve and become a contesting band. In the meantime we tend to play at community events, galas, fetes, remembrance parades and so on. Even with limited numbers we do manage quite a few engagements through the summer and usually have a fairly busy Christmas period.

If you think you'd like to become part of what we do you'll find us at the Scout Hut on Dorrington Road, Lancaster at 7.30pm any Wednesday evening. The following pages will tell you more about the band and the players so thanks for looking and we hope you may find it interesting enough to want to came and join us. You'll even get a cuppa and biscuits at our half time break.
